The warm hostess`s izakaya recommends a counter seat where you can make friends with the locals!

If you turn left at the arch entrance to Ushinaa Shakougai, you will find “Island Dining second-generation OH! Samaya.” If you count from the first generation of owners who ran this Izakaya in the past, this is the Izakaya with the most history in all of Kin.

Nowadays it’s owned by Mrs. Sugako Miyagi, the mistress. This mysterious locale name refers to her father’s name “Masao”, which when read backwards and adding a “Ya” (meaning locale) sounds like “Osamaya.” From the very beginning, the locale was taken over by her brother and thus went on for a second generation, and now Sugako has taken it over from her brother.

It is open for large groups such as class reunions and banquets, and also serves many individual clients who spend time there as if it were their own home. “Anyone who enters this locale becomes a part of us,” says the mistress. She has a warm personality, and is also a great cook. Her cheerful staff, and the locale’s warmth itself, are greatly felt.

Their menu serves all kinds of Champloo dishes, Zenmai from Miyako-jima, Daito Zushi and more. The menu includes everything from Okinawa cuisine to typical Izakaya dishes. These dishes are very large, so I recommend that you ask for half-size dishes if you want to try out several different foods.

The mistress recommends the “Chicken Stamina Teppan”, “Seafood Salad Udon”, “Tuna Avocado Rolls”, or the “Boiled Sea Spinach.”

The sea spinach is really crisp and tasty, and has been harvested here at the seashore of Kin. If you ever visit Kin you must come and try this rare dish.

“Single customers are also welcome. If you sit by the counter, you can become friends with the local people, so be sure to sit at the counter!” says the mistress. Delicious food, a warm mistress and a wonderful staff. Tonight, as usual, OH! We’re all waiting for you here at Samaya!
