From items in heavy boxes and confectionery containers to easy-to-use accessories such as hand mirrors, there are all wonderful works that feel the warmth of wood. Some of them are based on familiar plants such as hibiscus and moon peaches, but all the large reliefs are masterpieces. It takes time and effort, and it’s not something you can do right away. And it shows at first glance.

I was shown on how it’s made. Every carving, and every carved carefully. The materials are camphor, otajii, taro, hiba, fukugi, etc. It seems that they decide what to carve according to the nature of the wood. ” The angle of carving is different, so you can never make the same work again. That’s why everything becomes one-of-kind.” Ms. Kanetsugu says.

It is difficult to see a work that expresses the expression and shape of fine leaves and the real feeling of the fruit with wood carving. It is a valuable workshop where you can experience the beauty of crafts using various techniques up close.
